Meetsies didn’t start in a boardroom or with an algorithm. It started, as many good ideas do, with an offhand remark by the person who does your printing. Fresh off the back-to-back grind of running two local political campaigns and a full time hair salon, Ann was standing at the counter when her go-to print person pulled her aside and said, “Great. Now that you’re done with the campaigns, you need to fix online dating.” She rolled her eyes, laughed, and said she’d get right on it.

Two weeks later, the idea was fully formed. 

Now how to get it done? While everyone else was busy vibe coding, Ann knew she didn’t have the technical background to build a native phone app from scratch, and nothing else would do. As luck would have it, around that time she was brought in to help a developer named Travis with his own project. Ann was so blown away by his technical expertise that she knew he was “the One.”  

Ann says pitching Travis the Meetsies idea was like asking him to get married, only with stats and a pitch deck. After walking him through the entire thing she asked him what he thought.

He replied, “You had me at the first slide.” 

Travis had met his own wife through an app and knew exactly how soul-crushing the experience could be and could see how Meetsies would change everything about the modern dating experience.
